The Lemonade Stand Book Review and iPad Mini Giveaway!

bookreview-giveaway
My friend Shannon, who blogs at the Heavy Purse, wrote a fun and entertaining children’s book which teaches kids about saving, earning and managing their money. If you don’t know Shannon and read her blog, you really should…especially if you have kids. Shannon, a certified financial planner with two young daughters, writes many informative and inspiring posts on her blog about raising financially confident kids. Raising financially confident children is a big goal in my life, and I have to say that in my opinion, Shannon is the authority on this topic.

I was so excited to read her new book The Lemonade Stand. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and it has beautiful and brightly colored illustrations. It is a book that kids will enjoy reading, while learning some very important financial lessons. Shannon weaves lessons about saving money, earning money, entrepreneurship, money management, as well as delayed gratification and charity in her story. Yes, it covers a lot, yet the storyline is fun and simple for kids to grasp. The overall theme of “save, spend and share” is a wonderful lesson for all kids…and adults too! It is an excellent book for introducing your little ones to money and how to save, spend and share it. My son is only a year old, so there was not much he could take away from the book, but he did seem to like the bright colorful pictures!

“Everyone handles money. Unfortunately, not everyone does it with confidence. Money has long been a taboo topic in many homes, which makes it even harder for parents to know where to start or what to teach. So I created a series of children books to help parents ease into these important conversations. Financial literacy is one of the most loving gifts you can give your children, and I encourage everyone to make money conversations a priority in your home.”

Thanks for your wonderful review and incredibly kind words, Andrew! It means so much to me! Like you, raising financially confident is an absolute must to me. I meet so many parents who are practically doing back-flips trying to give their kids everything they could possible need, and then some, to succeed as adults. But they don’t talk to them about money and that is a HUGE missed opportunity. Our ability to handle our finances well is a major roadblock to creating the life we want and our overall financial success. I have no doubt your son will leave home financially confident and truly be in a position to succeed.
